Biography
Professor Li is the Vice Chairman of the Digestive Endoscopy Association of World Endoscopy Doctors Association, the Vice Chairman of the Modern Healthcare Research Branch of the China Association of Geriatric Research, the leader of the preparation of the China Non-government Digestive Endoscopy Training Base (Center), the Deputy Group Leader of Minimally Invasive Endoscopy Group of the Digestive Professional Committee of Chinese Medical Association, the Deputy Group Leader of the NOTES Group of Digestive Endoscopy Professional Committee of Chinese Medical Association, the member of Asia Pacific Natural Transluminal Orifice Endoscopic Surgery (NOTES) Work Group, and the international member of American Gastroenterology Association (AGA).
Prof. Li graduated from China Medical University in 1986 and received his Master’s Degree in Gastroenterology from the PLA Medical College under the renowned Professor Changxia Huang in 1991. In 2000, Prof. Li completed his Ph.D. in Surgery at the Chinese University of Hong Kong under Professor Sydney Chung.
Prof. Li has extensive experience in minimally invasive endoscopic treatment for digestive diseases, especially in endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography and endoscopic ultrasonography (ERCP+EUS), and endoscopic submucosal dissection early carcinoma of digestive tract (ESD), integrated treatment of digestive tract complicated tumor by internal medicine and surgery. With continuous innovation, Prof. Li piloted the application of iodine-125 particle implantation guided by EUS to treat esophageal cancer and duodenal papillary cancer and the used duodenoscope ESD to treat recurrent tumors of duodenal papilla after endoscopic resection. Prof. Li is also among the first in China to carry out the experimental and clinical research of natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (NOTES) and put forward the definition of “endoscopic surgery”, promoting the development of endoscopic surgery in China to keep it in the leading position in the world.
Prof. Li has received 16 National Natural Science Foundation projects, including 10 as the first applicant (total funds 1.6 million yuan) and 6 as the co-applicant (total funds 6.1 million yuan). He has published 61 papers (34 papers and 27 abstracts) in international medical journals, with the highest impact factor of a single paper being 7.3 and the cumulative impact factor being 83.9. Prof. Li has also published 126 papers in domestic medical journals.
