Biography
Prof. Qian graduated from the Medical Department of Peking Medical University in 1982 and worked at Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMC) starting in 1983. She received her PhD degree in Gastroenterology from Prof. Zhang Xiaoqian and Prof. Pan Guozong in 1984. She was promoted to Chief Physician in 1996 and appointed Supervisor of the Doctoral Program in 1998. She studied at the National Institutes of Health and the University of Michigan.
She has engaged in clinical and scientific research and has taught gastroenterology for 40 years. She has rich clinical experience. Prof. Qian is an expert in dealing with various gastroenterology diseases. In 2014, she was awarded “Gold Medal Good Doctor” in the first edition of China Central Radio’s “Beijing Good Doctor” contest. In 2018, she was awarded the title “Famous National Doctor,” and in 2019, “Special Recognition: Great Doctor of the Nation.”
She has undertaken many major scientific research projects, completed many national scientific research projects as subject leader, and obtained more than RMB50 million in scientific research funds. Prof. Qian has also led multiple studies, including the national epidemiological survey of common upper gastrointestinal diseases in China; carried out research in the field of pancreas, inflammatory bowel disease, and intestinal micro-ecology; and written consensus opinions on the diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and pregnancy, and opportunistic infections. She has published over 400 articles as a correspondent or first author, including over 100 SCI articles. She has co-edited 13 books as editor-in-chief and deputy editor-in-chief and completed four books as editor-in-chief.
Prof. Qian has taught at the Peking Union Medical College for many years and is currently the deputy director of the 6th Teaching Supervisory Committee of the Peking Union Medical College. She was awarded an advanced honor by the Ministry of Health and Beijing Municipality in 1995 and was honored with the title of famous teacher of the institution in 2009. She participated in the development of the five-year plan for textbooks for the country’s higher education system (6th-8th editions), the second and third editions of the eight-year plan for textbooks (and served as deputy editor-in-chief of the 3rd edition), and is the editor-in-chief of textbooks for postgraduates of the Gastrointestinal Internal Medicine (the 2nd and 3rd editions).
She was the director of the Department of Gastroenterology at Peking Union Medical College Hospital, President of the Gastroenterology Physicians Branch of the Chinese Physicians Association, a member of the Standing Committee, and Vice Chairman of the Gastroenterology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association. She was head of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Group. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Asian IBD Consortium (AOCC) and President of the 2018 AOCC.
Currently, she serves as Chairman of Enteric Microecology and HP Branch, Beijing Medical Association,Chairman of the Expert Committee of Digestive Special Fund, National Health Promotion Foundation,Chief editor of Digestive Special Issue, Medical Reference,Member of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia Commission.
