Biography

Dr. Han led the proposal of the anatomical concept of “velar palatal space,” invented Han USPPP surgery, and created nasal dilation surgery. He hosted four national major consulting and key research and development projects and undertook 43 national key projects such as the 11th Five Year Plan and the National Natural Science Foundation. Dr. Han published over 500 relevant academic works and various academic articles, including many SCI and Japanese articles, textbooks, science popularization series, and 15 utility model patents. He has worked with over 100 graduate students and many postdoctoral fellows. He won the National Science and Technology Progress Prize three times, the He Liang He Li Science and Technology Progress Award in 2005, and the Shulan Medical Award in 2020. In 2012, the 67th United Nations General Assembly awarded him the United Nations South-South Cooperation International Humanitarian Spirit Award.

Dr. Han is an expert in otolaryngology, a CAE Member academic, and a member of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. He serves as Dean of the School of Otolaryngology at Capital Medical University and director of a number of national otolaryngology organizations and committees. He is leader of the National Deafness Prevention and Treatment Technology Guidance Group, Chairman of the World Chinese Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery Council, and Honorary President of the Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery Branch of the Chinese Medical Association.
